Curriculum & Quality First Teaching
We believe that all children should have access to a rich, broad and ambitious curriculum, where high-quality teaching and confident reading are fundamental to enriching lives and expanding opportunity.
The curriculum in every Areté Learning Trust school is at least as ambitious as the National Curriculum, and is carefully adapted to reflect each school’s context, identity and the needs of the community it serves. Across the Trust, schools collaborate to share curriculum knowledge and expertise, choosing where appropriate to align practice in key areas to secure excellence and equity for all learners.
Across all key stages, pupils experience a carefully planned, coherent and aspirational learning journey, which builds systematically on prior knowledge and skills. Regular opportunities for retrieval practice, including low-stakes quizzing, support long-term learning and prepare pupils not only for examination success, but for lifelong learning and future pathways.
Curriculum design and classroom practice are underpinned by evidence-informed principles and educational research, ensuring that the science of learning consistently informs high-quality teaching in every classroom.
This curriculum approach is supported and strengthened through Trust-wide collaboration and professional development.
